Sikeston and our region on June 29 celebrated the opening of the Carlisle Manufacturing group, which is a $100 million-investment for our area. Notably absent was Congressman Jason Smith who has developed a very bad habit of skipping most events in his district and just sending a staffer to represent him. This aloof, callous and brazen attitude of Smith’s is beyond disgusting and Smith was on recess the day of this event. There is no rhyme or reason why he should not have been here in Sikeston for the event. Maybe the press should request a statement from Smith on why he did not bother to attend the event. He needs to be held accountable for this despicable act.
