SD ROUNDUP: Sikeston girls basketball team stave off Festus on the road

FESTUS, Mo. -- Tyeshia Mitchell and Kiera Steward led the Sikeston girls basketball team to a 72-66 road win over Festus Wednesday.

Mitchell scored a game-high 21 points and Steward added 20 behind five 3-pointers.

Larysa McClellon scored 13 for the Bulldogs.

Jordan Oetting and Allison Beckham led the Tigers with 15 points apiece. Ashley Fallery scored 11.

Sikeston led by eight at halftime and 42-37 going into the fourth quarter. The two combined to score 59 points in the final frame with Sikeston outscoring the Tigers 30-29 to seal the win.

Festus (13-4) shot 27 for 36 from the free throw line.

Sikeston (7-12) will host Scott City tonight at the Sikeston Field House.
