SD ROUNDUP: Charleston falls short to Jackson, Risco claims conference title

JACKSON, Mo. -- Demarcus Sharp poured in 26 points, including six 3-pointers, but it was not enough as Charleston fell five points short to a determined Jackson squad in the SEMO conference road loss, 66-61.

Mardareyon Clark sank 19 points for Charleston (15-5, 4-2 SEMO Conference). The Bluejays trailed by three points at halftime but reversed the score and took a 42-40 lead going into the final quarter. The Indians rallied and outscored the Bluejays by seven points to erase the two-point deficit and ultimately prevail.

Desmond Morris recorded 21 points, 15 of which came from behind the arc, and Jacob Friess added 12 points to lead Jackson (13-8, 2-2).

Charleston returns to the court on Saturday when it hosts the Sixth Man Shootout. The Bluejays will take on Cairo, Ill., at 7 p.m.

RISCO, Mo. -- Morgan Ludwig scored a game-high 31 points while helping the Tigers to a Tri-County Conference regular season championship and their 14th win in a row Tuesday at home.

Risco (18-2, 7-0) also got 25 points from Drew Fortner and another 14 from Nathan Burnett.

Dejohn Caldwell led North Pemiscot with 16 points, Keegan Brown added 13 for the Mustangs.

Risco will travel to Richland on Friday.

OAK RIDGE, Mo. -- Josh Thornton was the lone Rebel to reach double digits and finished with 12 points as the Rebels were unable to spoil the district contender Bluejays' Senior Night in the road loss.

Hunter Walker scored nine points, all from behind the arc, for Richland (3-13). The Rebels were behind by eight points going into halftime and suffered worse during the second half when they were outscored by 19 points.

Senior Jacob Hunt nailed a game-high 25 points to lead Oak Ridge (7-10) to victory. Senior Waylyn Myers and freshman Zach LeGrand bucketed 14 points apiece for the Bluejays.

Richland travels south to Cardwell, Mo., on Thursday when they will face winless Southland.

CHAFFEE, Mo. -- The Eagles scored all the points they would ultimately need at the end of the first quarter in the lopsided conference road rout over the Red Devils.

Max Priggel led all scorers with 22 points, including six 3-pointers, for Oran (13-7, 5-1 Scott-Mississippi Conference). Layne Johnson chipped in 13 points for the Eagles, who soared out to a commanding 48-9 lead at halftime that proved too much for the Red Devils to overcome.

Landon Tenkhoff had nine points to pace Chaffee (3-16, 0-5).

Oran hosts Bell City on Friday while Chaffee travels to Oak Ridge.

FRUITLAND, Mo. -- Chaylea Mosby busted a game-high 25 points, including seven 3-pointers, but it was not enough as the Bearcats were unable to overcome a solid second-half performance by the host Crusaders in the conference loss.

The Crusaders held Hannah Thurmon to only eight points for Dexter (11-8, 2-1 SEMO Conference). The Bearcats trailed by only four points at halftime before the hosts outscored them by 19 points in the second half.

Courtney Kester recorded 19 points, 15 of which came from behind the arc, and three steals to lead Saxony Lutheran (14-5, 3-0). Emma Brune chipped in 12 points for the Crusaders.

Dexter hosts Class 2 powerhouse Naylor on Thursday.

NAYLOR, Mo. -- Hailey Kesler scored 17 points for the Bravettes but it wasn't enough on the road against Naylor.

Scott Central (10-9) led 11-7 after the first quarter but were outscored 16-8 in the second to trail 23-19 at the half. The Bravettes were outscored 29-22 in the second half.

Samantha Coffee scored eight points and had five rebounds, Trinity Thomas had eight points and Johneisha Daniel had six points, six rebounds and two blocks before fouling out.
