Final seeds released, first round matchups of district football set

The final district standings were released Sunday following the conclusion of the high school football regular season.

In Class 4, District 1, Sikeston's upset win over the Class 3, state-ranked Park Hills Central Rebels last Friday secured at least one more home game for the Bulldogs.

Their 54-30 victory moved Sikeston (6-3) up one spot to the No. 3 seed and set them up with a first round game against sixth-seeded Festus (5-4) on Friday at 7 p.m.

Top-seeded Farmington (6-3) will host No. 8 Perryville (2-7), fourth-seeded North County (6-3) will host the defending champion Cape Central Tigers (4-5) and No. 2 Hillsboro (7-2) will host No. 7 DeSoto (5-4).

The Rebels, who's first loss of the season came against Sikeston, will host No. 8 New Madrid County Central (1-7) in the Class 3, District 1 tournament. Park Hills Central (8-1) won the district last year.

Third-seeded Kennett (5-4) will host No. 6 Dexter (2-7), No. 2 Ste. Genevieve (5-4) will take on No. 7 Fredericktown (2-7) at home and No. 5 Salem (5-4) will be on the road to Potosi (4-5).

In Class 2, District 1, top-seeded and the defending state runner-ups Malden will have the week off with a first-round bye.

The undefeated Green Wave (9-0) will host either No. 5 Charleston (3-6) or fourth-seeded Jefferson (6-3) in the semifinal. Second-seeded Caruthersville (6-3) hosts No. 7 Kelly (0-9) while sixth-seeded St. Pius X (2-7) travels to No. 3 East Prairie (5-4).

No. 5 Portageville (3-6) will travel north to fourth-seeded St. Vincent (6-3) for a chance to meet the defending Class 1 state champions. Valle (8-1), who won its third-straight title and 14th overall last season, received a first-round bye.

No. 2 Hayti (8-1) will host seventh-seeded Crystal City (3-6) and No. 6 Chaffee (4-5) travels to No. 3 Scott City (6-3) for the second time this season. The Rams won the regular season matchup 42-13.

First round games will begin this Friday with seeds 1-4 hosting each game. The semifinal round will be played Oct. 28.
