Fire puts 2 in burn units

POPLAR BLUFF -- Authorities say a Poplar Bluff mother and one of her sons are in hospital burn units today after they apparent suffered smoke inhalation when their North Street home caught fire. Tesson Turbe, who also suffered "light burns" around her face, was taken to Mercy Hospital in St. Louis for treatment, while her 25-year-old son, Uriah Nelson, is in the burn unit at The Med in Memphis, Tenn., according to Poplar Bluff Fire Chief Ralph Stucker...

Two charged as accomplices to murder in Wayne County

GREENVILLE -- Two Wayne County men were arraigned late last week for their alleged roles in the shooting death of a man whose body was found lying next to his overturned all-terrain vehicle on a county road near Hiram, Missouri. EAST PRAIRIE -- Doyle Elementary in East Prairie recently hosted the eighth annual Doyle Elementary School blood drive with a shamrock/heart theme. The pint-sized heroes were so "lucky" because they were able to find 342 blood donors and 287 units were considered productive and able to save 861 lives, according to blood drive officials. ...

Winning the classroom pizza parties were Leslie's Allgier's preschool class who found 27 donors and Lydia Thomure's first grade class who found 37 donors.
