SIKESTON -- This weekend area shoppers will get a little relief at the cash register. The annual sales tax holiday begins at 12:01 a.m. Aug. 1 and ends at midnight Aug. 3. Items that are considered "back to school purchases" qualify for the tax exemption from state, county and local taxes. These include clothing, personal computers and school supplies.
