We must win the war over radical terrorism (09/12/16)
Today marks the anniversary of the event that changed this nation perhaps forever. Like the Kennedy assassination, for those old enough to remember, we can all recall where we were and what we were doing when terrorist-guided planes changed the course of human events...
Speakout (09/12/16)
I am sick and tired of Obama wagging his finger at the American people and saying, "That's not who we are." If you want four more years of this fundamental transformation of America that Obama has done for this great country, then vote for Hillary Clinton. ...
Speakout (09/09/16)
I'm the person who called in about the New Morley Cemetery. I'm responding to the person who said to look around at the empty houses and the dead grass in the yards and trash in the yards. I could care less about that. What I'm talking about is the cemetery where our loved ones are buried, where we paid to have them buried. ...
America doesn't need same failing policies for another four years (09/07/16)
I'm uncertain if "conventional wisdom" applies to the upcoming presidential election but, if so, then conventional wisdom gives an edge to Hillary Clinton. But for the super delegates, the former Secretary of State might not even be the Democratic nominee...
Speakout (09/07/16)
The release of Hillary's emails has exposed her fraudulent, lying and deceptive behavior to the United States citizens. Her emails were so classified that even Congress did not have the authority to open them. Those emails that she had on a private server in her basement proves that she was doing nothing more than trying to keep American people from knowing about her fraudulent behavior with foreign governments, and the money that she got in return that went into the Clinton Foundation that has made them $140 million richer in only 15 years. ...
The way we access our news is changing (09/04/16)
I'm part of the generation who clipped newspaper articles and proudly put them in a scrapbook. Now long faded photos of Little League or some high school activity still remain somewhere hidden in a drawer as far as I know. But like it or not, our world is changing. And high among those changes is the way most of us gather our news...
Speak out (09/04/16)
I'm calling in regard to an article in SpeakOut, "Sounding the trumpet." The caller says anyone that claims to be a Christian could not vote for Trump because he's an evil person. I wish you could explain to me how anyone claiming to be a Christian could vote for anyone who supports abortion...
Speakout (09/02/16)
I am calling in regard to the ditch behind Kindergarten. I went to an Open House there and there's nothing but weeds and water. I probably got 20 mosquito bites trying to get in my car. Does the city not watch TV about the Zika virus or even mosquitoes in general? Shouldn't they take care of this with the kids back in school?...
Speakout (09/01/16)
I would like to say that as big as Sikeston is, the only place that has chocolate ice cream cones is the Sikeston Dairy Queen. Not McDonalds, Sonic, Burger King, Wendy's. Please you other places, think about putting chocolate ice cream in. This is a new school year, and new high hopes of great high school players. ...
Quarterback fumbled with anthem boycott (08/31/16)
Colin Kaepernick did the near-impossible this weekend. In one fell swoop, the struggling NFL quarterback knocked Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton from the headlines and, at the same time, alienated a huge segment of the American public. Kaepernick took a page from the 1968 Olympic display of two American athletes and refused to stand for the national anthem during a preseason football game...
Speakout (08/27/16)
Go on to your computer and google Twin Falls, Idaho, and read the story about the 5-year-old girl who was raped, molested and urinated on by three Syrian refugees that were brought here by the Obama Administration. It was videotaped, and now they are trying to cover it up. ...
Core issue of violence should be addressed (08/24/16)
If nothing else, the left is predictable. A house party in Bridgeport, Conn. -- complete with DJ and alcohol sales -- turned ugly this past weekend when two thugs ambushed party goers and wounded 13 people. But before the gun smoke had cleared, the opportunistic Democratic Sen. Richard Blumenthal called for additional gun control measures...
It's time to develop school facilities plan (08/20/16)
It's that time of year when students return to school and parents -- some at least -- battle with the empty nest syndrome. The school year is always an exciting time despite what some students will admit. It's a combination of learning and structure that is essential to molding the future leaders of our city, our region and our nation...
Clinton's immigration plan is all about votes (08/17/16)
The somewhat less-than-Honorable Hillary Rodham Clinton this week unveiled her latest campaign tactic which involves enlisting young illegal immigrants to mount a voter drive on her behalf. The Clinton campaign is seeking thousands of young volunteers -- the undocumented Dreamers courted by the current President -- to get out the vote even though they themselves are prohibited from voting...
The lack of civility threatens our future (08/13/16)
It's easy to view today's political and social landscape with a healthy amount of dismay and sadness. If you're prone to worrying, then this is your time to shine. From ISIS to illegal immigration and all points in between, there is ample cause for concern...
Speakout (08/12/16)
Donald Trump was portrayed at the Democratic National Convention as speaking hate speech. I call it in touch with reality speech. At the DNC, Hillary and her Hollywood supporters were singing, "What the world needs now is love sweet love." The terrorists, like those that decapitated a Catholic priest while he was saying mass, don't seem to be responding to that message. ...
Speakout (08/11/16)
Maybe it's time for a little honesty. I know the truth is either boring to horrifying, but surely nothing more peril than what we are presently facing, which is ourselves. It is time to ditch the two-party system. It's time our leaders not be chosen out of the "lesser of two evils," but out of purity, intelligence, diligence and concern for All Citizens, not just the select few. ...
Change at White House won't heal nation (08/10/16)
As sad as it may sound, nothing will change following the Presidential election in November. Sure, we'll have new leadership and a major changing of the guard. But on the critical issues that divide this nation, nothing will change. At least not immediately...
Speakout (08/06/16)
I was looking at the situation of the world and how the United States troops are everywhere rebuilding these other countries that were our enemies, spending our tax dollars to build bridges and new homes in these oil rich countries. I think they need to bring our troops home to protect us from these terrorists. ...
Bias mass media endangers the nation (08/06/16)
Of the mountains of declining values that has become the United States, none in my mind compares to the massive fraud and partisanship that has become the mass media in this country. A cornerstone in a democracy is an impartial, fair media. We depend on those who daily monitor and watch the political process. We depend on them because we cannot be as close to the process as they are...
Speakout (08/05/16)
If we had a ugly contest in the United States, who would win - Hillary Clinton or Michelle Obama? I want to thank Betty and Candy for doing so much for me and my daughter. I had already given up thinking nobody cared, and then they came walking in the door to help us. Just knowing that they are here to be my friends means a lot to me. They mean a lot to me...
Speakout (08/04/16)
I am a member of the Pentecostal Church. I called Sikeston DPS to report a group of people gathered on our parking lot drinking, playing loud music and using foul language. Sikeston DPS did nothing to them. They let them all disperse in their vehicles as they were sitting out there with their beer cans and bottles in their hands. I think someone should check in to what Sikeston DPS is doing...
Speakout (08/01/16)
I cannot understand why there are so many people for Donald Trump. You would think he is Jesus Christ, instead of the idiot he is. He hasn't ever done anything but fly around in an airplane that he bought with bankruptcy money. A journalist said he was like Adolph Hitler. Hitler is a prince compared to Donald Trump...
Local races deserve attention Tuesday (07/30/16)
After months of endless television commercials, the long primary election process finally comes to an end on Tuesday. In a Presidential election year, lower candidates often get lost in the political discussion as we focus on the all-important race at the top of the ballot...
Speakout (07/29/16)
This is in response to "Lots of voice and little knowledge." In the last school board election, the parents and citizens of the Sikeston School District went to the polls and elected a representative who had promised them to work against Common Core and all of its elements. ...
